Technology, though no doubt a vital component of our daily lives, is increasingly being used as a means of facilitating abuse. It is essential that professionals working with people who experience family violence are able to support clients to improve their online safety and consider technology as part of their practice and risk assessment.
In this session, aimed at frontline professionals in the family violence sector, Leonie Burnham from eSafety Women will explore:
- how technology is used as a tool for abuse, including online harassment/stalking/intimidation; trends in surveillance and tracking devices; hacking and impersonation; and online threats, including use of intimate images without consent;
- strategies to identify and address risks, including red flags, digital footprints and emerging technology; and
- resources to support your work to empower women to improve their safety.
